Can AI feel ‘family love’?

Future society and AI prefdicted by science fiction

What role will artificial intelligence (AI) robots play in the future? In the industrial field, at home, at school, and on the battlefield, AI robots will play an auxiliary role for humans.

AI will be a cook, a friend, a caregiver. People may feel ‘family love’ like companion animals to AI robots.

However, despite this, it is difficult to completely shake off the sense of alienation and fear of AI.

Won Jong-woo, a science fiction writer and science communicator, said that he first felt the fear and alienation of AI in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam.

CEO Won Jong-woo said this at the ‘Future Society and AI Prospecting from Science-Fiction’ forum held at the Seoul Dragon City Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 26th of last month.

Can AI and Humans Be Happy Together?

No matter how developed for the convenience of humans, it is difficult to completely get rid of the fear of AI. Is it because I’ve seen too many strong AIs dominating humans as seen in sci-fi movies?
Park Sang-joon, president of the Korea Science Fiction Association, found this kind of faint fear in the movie. On this day, Chairman Park looked back at the AI that was dealt with in sci-fi works.
AI drawn in sci-fi works has a dichotomous structure. A strong AI created to destroy and dominate humans and an emotional AI that helps humans and loves humans next to humans.
The AI robots we want will never exist to dominate or destroy humans. People want AI robots to act as servants and assistants to help them with their jobs.
The movie Bicentennial Man (1999) represents the psychology of these people well. Andrew Martin (Robin Williams), who plays the home butler AI robot, is a faithful servant and errand man. In the end, he chooses to die to become a family with them and become a human being.
In the movie , the robot anrew wants to become a human, receivesa human organ and choose to die like a human.
In this film, the robot Andrew Martin uses his extraordinary talents to make money. Instead of the owner, the robot opens its own account and is given independent property rights.
At the time, this was a awfully radical plan. This is because the debate over who will take ownership of the creations (products) created by AI is only starting now.
Last year, the European Union (EU) parliament passed a resolution designating the legal status of artificial intelligence robots as electronic humans.
Although AI is inanimate, it is performing valuable activities like humans. Therefore, the need to determine the legal regulations and treatment for them has become a reality.

Could AI be a family from human servants?

Around 2001, AI is drawn in the form of a companion (animal) in the movie. It is also connected to the present reality, where conversational artificial intelligence speakers and conversational robots for the elderly living alone are popularly sold.
Now, people want AI robots to go beyond the role of loyal servants to talk and engage emotionally with them. But still, they are not living creatures. They can be revived anytime with parts and a power supply.

So what will happen? There is a high possibility that an abandoned robot, not an abandoned animal, will occur. Because they think they will never die, they can be thrown away at any time.

In the 2001 movie ‘AI’, directed by Steven Spielberg, a robot was created using the genes of a dead child, and the robot was abandoned in the forest when it was no longer needed. An

AI robot programmed to love humans cries out, saying, “Are you going to throw it away because you’re not human?”
Perhaps in the future, AI will become more than human. Just like the AI robot in the movie ‘Heavenly Creature -Heavenly Creature’.
